I apologize if you received more than one note from me
telling you that this newsletter is online!
I'm getting used to using a
different email program (ugh), and I don't mean to annoy anyone with my lack
of expertise! I'm very sorry to add to what must be a ton of junk
in your inbox, if it's anything like my inbox! I hope that not everyone
will be mad at me and unsubscribe! :-(
I'm getting ready to go out of town, so if I'm going to be
remotely organized about my upcoming trip, I've got to keep
this shorter than I'd like. I always want to add fifty or so more pages by the
time my self-imposed newsletter deadline has already come and gone, but I have to
stop somewhere!
I will, however, try to continue updating the website while
I'm on the road, as I'll have my laptop along.
The boys & I are driving to Baltimore for my niece's
wedding, and we're going to make it a field trip - a big field trip!
I'm looking forward to it... mostly, at least as enthusiastically as a parent
can look forward to 27 hour on the road with two kids in the back seat.
Cookie,
naturally, will be riding shotgun. When she sits in the front passenger's seat
beside me, she's actually taller than I am, so we inspire some pretty funny
double-takes from other drivers.
I made a correction a Michigan
page, so heads up, you Michigan researchers! Thanks to reader Don Bryant,
whose "Connection" to one of the names in the story alerted him to
my error. The next newsletter will contain more details.
For those of you who are new subscribers, this portion of TheOldenTimes.com is not indexed by the
FreeFind search engine's spider, so you have the advantage of the updates
and the index of locations only if you're a subscriber.
For whatever that's worth. Hey - at least it's free!
Past issues are available here.
Connections
Folks are making connections! I can't tell you how thrilled I am when someone finds a
familiar name here on TheOldenTimes.com! I've begun adding a few of the
interesting emails that I receive about this site and the old stories. I
haven't had time to catch up with them all, but I'll keep working on it. There isn't a link yet from the main part of the
site, but you can browse that section as you like.
I'm still behind, as always, in getting everything online,
but I'll keep working at it, so if you don't see something that you've sent to
me, please be patient with me and keep watching...
Favorites
I have some favorite old newspaper stories and ads, and I began
keeping a list of them, which I've decided to post to the website. As I've
noted at the beginning of this
list, there are a number of reasons for which I might choose and article
or an ad to list, ranging from "it's a great clue," and "what a
weird tale," to the fact that it struck me as just plain funny!
Thanks so much to all of you who have supported this website!
Don't forget, the Bookstore
is now open, and I try to add new titles, CDs or really neat gifts on a
regular basis. There is
also a terrific selection of discount
printer supplies and inkjet refill kits, so please remember The Olden
Times when the printer runs dry!
Please stay safe, and remember those glorious words, e
pluribus unum.
Out of many, one.
As always, thanks for your patience, and thanks for
visiting!
