The historic
ROYALL House is a National Historic Landmark. It was built in 1637 for
Governor John WINTHROP.
Isaac ROYALL constructed the slave
quarters in 1732, which he used to house his 27 slaves. The structure was later
used as a stop on the Underground Railroad.
This
Boston College site features the ROYALL House among other examples
of 18th-century architecture, including photographs and architectural
plans of the ROYAL House.
