Vintage & Collectible Maine Postcards:

Entrance to Riverside Cemetery

Lewiston, Maine

1909

Androscoggin County, Maine

This photo card is postmarked August 9, 1909, from Lisbon, Maine, and was mailed by "Mab" to "Mr. H. WOODARD" of Auburn, Maine.

There's something a little quirky about the message, when you consider the illustration on the car, which is of the entrance to the Riverside Cemetery in Lewiston, Maine. Mab wrote,

Did you ever see this place before? Hoping you are feeling better than when I saw you last. Yours, Mab, Box 17, Lisbon, Me.

Why would you send a sick friend a postcard illustrated with a cemetery?

Then again, she signed it "yours," rather than "your friend! Who knows?

The only information about the card's manufacture is that is was printed in Germany; no publisher's name appears.
