This linen-era postcard features an illustration of
the home known as "Richmond," in Natchez, Mississippi. Yes, this is an image of
a single house!
The reverse explains, "A most
remarkable combination of three distinct periods of Natchez architectural
history: including the pioneer Spanish of 1784, the elegant Greek revival of
1832, and a sophisticated ante-bellum type of huge proportions. Among the
treasured antique furnishings is the piano which accompanied Jenny Lind when she
sang in Natchez in 1851."
The divider on the back reads, "Published
by Louisiana-Mississippi New Co., McComb, Miss." and "'A Natural Color
Card' Made by E. C. Kropp Co., Milwaukee, Wis. "
The card was never used.
