From the seller: "Eighteenth-century manuscript deed agreement, between
John BISHOP & William JONES Huntington deeding ".in the consideration of the Sum
of thirty five pounds Current lawfull money of the State of New York to me in
hand paid by David WOOD. Fresh meadow land and swamp situate lying and being at
Crabmeadow in the township of Huntington." & more detail about the area of land
to be deeded; 16" x 13" approximate size; BISHOP, WOOD families given generous
and extensive mention in MATHER's opus genealogical work, "The Refugees of 1776
from Long Island to Connecticut" documenting their genealogies and involvement
in the Revolutionary War; with original paper-covered seals at bottom; signed by
Jonas WOOD, Jonah BISHOP, John BISHOP, Helen BISHOP; some edge, tips wear and
darkening to leaf; a few small holes, a little loss to a few letters; in medium
brown ink, in legible hand; on back is old note, again in an eighteenth century
hand: 'John BISHOP deed to David WOOD'; good condition."

From the seller: "Including: 2-page (with integral 2 pages of blanks) Bond dated 1859 for William McQueen of Oyster Bay Queens County Long Island New York for 1600 dollars to the Mary & Sarha Earle of the same town, with appropriate paper-covered seals and signed by James M. Burtis, McQueen is co-signed by Lucy McQueen, with interest information and payment details on next page, approx. 8" x 12" legal document size; other documents relate to this transaction and others: 1860 receipt from Edwin Griffing on order of J. Sammis interest on bond from McQueen and on the same paper, receipt for 2 years interest in 1862; evidently Wm. McQueen passes away around this time, since NOv. 19th 1861 receipt is from the Estate of Wm. McQueen to the School district for tax; other estate purchases in 1861 for white ash coal, pine slats, clths, horse, to S.Y. Ludlam; 1862 mortgage payment for J. M. Sammis & McQueen from Moses Austin(?); Town of Oyster Bay printed receipt accomplished by hand for town taxes for year 1862, printed at Glen Cove Gazette Print; estate of Wm. McQueen, interest payment, signed by Andrew McQueen; 1863 funeral expenses, travel interest charged for 2 years of carrying the bill, since 1860, J.S. White; 1863 McQueen estate payment receipt for large sheets of tin, charcoal, labor, more to Downing; 1863 from Edwin Griffin, for interest on note-now carried by David McQueen, signed by Stephen Schenck; Town of Oyster Bay town tax receipt for 1864 signed by Peter Vanderwater; 1865 receipt from Edwin Griffin executor of the estate of Wm. McQueen for professional services, by McCoun; 1865; 2 1865 receipts signed by Van Lise for Town of Oyster Bay taxes; and another 1865 Schenck interest receipt from original McQueen loan via David McQ. & Edwin Griffin; average size about 3 1/2" x 8"; light wear, old fold lines, a little foxing; very good condition and interesting Oyster Bay Long Island historical ephemera; a great 'snapshot' view of a family's estate & finances in the middle part of the nineteenth century."

From the seller: "Extensive Eighteenth-century manuscript deed for lands owned by the Whitsons to the Jacksons (of Hempstead) in the Township of Oyster Bay, dated thirty first day of July 1772; 12 1/2" x 8" approximate size; giving much detail of the location of these meadow lands, ".in the Lower Division of Oyster Bay West Neck. West Island or thirteenth Share of upland. from the Northwest Corner of the hay house. (to the) fence as now standeth being the old arbitration line fixed by Platt Conklin and William Smith and Lately Confirmed by an arbitration Settled by Jonathan Seaman William Townsend and Doctor James Townsend."; assigning these meadow lands to the estate of the Jacksons; with the names of Jacob Jackson & Isaac Minor, with their marks and John Whitson & Henry Whitson signatures, signing the document, with the remains of the original red wax seals; accomplished in a legible hand in brown ink, chain-laid watermark paper; Oyster Bay local historical figures of note, Townsend & Jackson, Whitson families given mention in Mather's major genealogical work, "The Refugees of 1776 from Long Island to Connecticut"; light edge, tips wear and darkening to leaf; very good condition and interesting transaction just before the outbreak of the Revolutionary War and the division of many families due to their political loyalties."
