Photos of a Detroit Light Guard Battalion going to Cuba for Spanish-American War
From the seller: "118 photos (photos are 2-5 per page), 25 postcards, one
lithograph (Calvert), one engraving, one print. 14.5 x 12, boards bound with
metal screws, (116 pp). Light wear to covers, photos removed previously, album
pages brittle, chipped and torn, photos, etc. are in very good condition. In
part: 3 photos of the Detroit Metropolitan Police, 30 photos and postcards of
Belle Isle, 1 photo of Eastern Market, 1 photo of St. Clair Flats, 1 photo of
Bois Blanc Island. Of special interest are the photos of the Light Guard
Battalion, 31st MVI, Co. M. There are 40 photos in all showing the soldiers
preparing for war in various camps in the U.S. and their camps in Cuba, photos
all carry info on exact locations, etc. Photos etc. are on 58 of the 116 pp.

From the seller: "Light wear, faint scratches to Memorial Bldg. Shows the
front of the post office with cars parked in front; the Memorial Bldg. is a
large, lovely structure with people walking by its Palladian windows; and
finally the high school is shown with its highly decorative front entrance.
Ironwood, in Gogebic County, was first settled in 1889 as the commercial center
of the Gogebic iron mining district and was named for James R. "Iron" Wood.
Printed by the L. L. Cook & Co., Milwaukee, the print numbers are located on the
front of the cards."

From the seller: "Very Good-; Upper corner creased with small tear (not particularly objectionable) & lower corner with a short tear to outside of margin of image. This very pretty hand colored map is from 1873 and includes the counties of Houghton and Baraga as well as Keweenaw Bay, townships, rivers, lakes and streams along with mines, villages, railroads, and roads (such as they were) in the early days of Michigan's UP. The image size is about 11x21.5" and would make an interesting framed conversation piece; single sheet."
