John Millard VINCENT was born about 1824 in North Carolina, according to the 1880 Federal Census of Rains County, Texas. Though I do not know the names of his parents, the census indicates that they, too, were born in North Carolina.

He married Louise GEE (daughter of Samuel GEE) in Alabama, and the family came to Texas in 1854.

Their children were:

• Oscar Cyrus "Pat" VINCENT, born March 18, 1867 in Hunt County, Texas.

• Elizabeth "Eliza" Cordelia VINCENT, born October 22, 1860 in Emory, Rains County, Texas; married James William COX on June 30, 1881 in Emory, Rains County, Texas. She died on October 14, 1913, and is buried in the Emory City Cemetery, Rains County, Texas.

John Millard VINCENT served in the Civil War in both Cavalry and Artillery regiments. He died in 1884 and is buried in the Emory City Cemetery in Rains County, Texas.
