Gustavus Watts Allen II, Mary Allen and Walter Allen
Gus, Mary and Walter were children of Gustavus Watts Allen, Sr. and Mary Virginia ("Jennie") Dowdy. Gus was my grandfather.
Gustavus Watts ALLEN, Jr., was born July 22, 1880 in Moscow, Fayette County, Tennessee. He married schoolteacher Annie Leona COX on June 7, 1914, in Emory, Texas. The couple moved to West Texas for her health, but the change of climate didn't help much: Annie died at the age of 42, on January 27, 1935 in San Angelo. Gus never remarried. Mary Magdalene ALLEN was born December 6, 1887, in McKinney, Texas. Se married rancher Roy Seton CUMMINGS. He died July 14, 1964, in San Angelo, Texas. She died in San Angelo on March 10, 1972. They are buried in the Lawnhaven Cemetery in San Angelo.
Walter ALLEN was born March 9, 1883, in Moscow, Tennessee. A professional photographer who spent much of his working years in California, he never married. He died in Big Spring, Texas on April 11, 1963. He is buried in the Pecan Grove Cemetery in McKinney, Texas.
