HALE, HOUSE and Related Families: Mainly on the Connecticut River Valley
"Of the forty-seven families set forth here (Hale and House and forty-five others), fourteen lived in Glastonbury or its mother town of Wetherfield, four were of Hartford, and two of Windsor; while on the Massachusetts side, fourteen lived in Springfield and six others were located in Northampton, Hadley, Hatfield, and Deerfield. Two were in Saybrook, at the mouth of the Connecticut River, and five were scattered. Mr. Jacobus, who built on Mr. Waterman's files, succeeded in presenting exhaustive data from original sources, in providing new interpretations as well as additions and corrections to existing literature, and in making the family accounts definitive. The index alone bears reference to some 16,500 persons."

The HAMILTONs of Burnside, North Carolina and Their Ancestors and Descendants

A Short Account of the HAMILTONs of Bargany

HAMILTONS of Waterborough, York County, Maine: Their Ancestors and Descendants
"David Hamilton, a Scottish prisoner who was transported to Charlestown, MA in 1651, soon settled in Dover, NH. His ancestry and descendants are detailed here, with emphasis on five Hamilton brothers, great-grandsons of David, who moved from Berwick, ME to Waterboro, ME in the 18th century. The standard Register format is used and documentation, particularly for the 17th and 18th centuries, is good. Because of the extensive records of Waterboro, ME which Mr. Hamilton included in his book, and the loss of much of Waterboro's records in major fires in 1911 and 1947, his book is often the only source for the existence, location, and description of early landmarks. Excellent for Hamilton descendants and students of the towns of Dover and Rollinsford, NH and the Maine towns of Waterboro, Saco, Berwick and South Berwick."

History and Genealogies of the HAMMOND Families in America; With an Account of the Early History of the Family in Normandy and Great Britain. 1000 - 1902

The HAMMONDs of Redcliffe
"
Drawing on four generations of family correspondence --reflecting the hopes, fears, desires, frustrations, and failures of an American family touched by personal scandal-- this book presents the saga of the Hammonds of Redcliffe from before the Civil War to after the New Deal. Set in Redcliffe, the plantation home of the Hammonds, this sweeping collection of letters, many of them by women, recaptures a way of life that is gone forever as it provides fascinating insights into the reactions of the participants to disaster on the battlefield and on the homefront and into the agony of an eminent plantation family that had to adjust as best it could to a new social order. More than just the story of one family, the book casts in high relief the whole fabric of society: how all people worked and wept, married and mourned, lived and died."
