This linen postcard is yet another fun find from eBay!
It was never used and is in near-mint condition, so there's no postmark to betray its age. It was published by the Concho News Agency of San Angelo, and "Genuine Curteich-Chicago 'C. T. American Art' Post Card (Reg. U. S. Patent Office)" is printed on the back as the dividing line down the middle. For some reason, the date Feb. 27, 1947 is stamped across the stamp box, which says "Place one cent stamp here."I remember this view of City Hall very well, because it sits behind the San Angelo Standard-Times, where my dad worked as Advertising Director, and where I spent many an afternoon waiting for him to give me a ride home after band practice at the nearby high school. I later worked in their Composing Room for a while during college.
The cars parked in front of City Hall in this image, however, were a good deal before my time! |
